Cet essai s’intéresse à l’histoire ancienne et récente de l’Université. Il appelle à considérer la place réelle des études sur le genre et le racisme dans les réseaux universitaires – des salles de classe aux projets de recherche –, et met en lumière les forces qui mènent la charge aux États-Unis, en France et au Québec, depuis presque cinquante ans. Ultimement, il s’agit d’un exercice de déconstruction d’une propagande réactionnaire.
